This is a gorgeous set of wines from Michael Cruse. Valdiguié, St. Laurent and a host of obscure grapes feature in these distinctive, flavorful wines. Cruse's lineup includes two Pét-nats that are made with a traditional, artisan approach in which wines are bottled while still fermenting. The unfermented sugar and yeasts then create bubbles. Readers will also want to check out the sparkling wines Cruse makes under his Ultramarine label, reviewed here separately.
