This Kamptal pétillant naturel collaboration between the Jurtschitsches and Arndorfers, about which I wrote in detail as part of my report focusing on vintage 2014 (although the sole “pet nat” reviewed alongside was a 2012 reserve), will prominently feature various varietal blends, which will each year carry a number from “1” to however many are essayed in that year. While it’s certainly still the case that, as I wrote on that previous occasion, a lot of trial and error remains in their path, it’s clear from what I most recently tasted that these young wine growers have been on a steep learning curve when it comes to honing their intuitions and limiting the guesswork involved in choosing when and in what par-fermented state a given blend should be committed to completing its fermentation in bottle.
