The specialty and focus at Domaine Le Clos des Cazaux, a Vacqueyras-based domaine, is, unsurprisingly, Vacqueyras, and the wines are reliably excellent. Brothers Jean-Michel & François Vache own 20 hectares of vines in Gigondas, from which they produce two outstanding wines, an impressive 45,000 bottles, per average vintage. These are fruit-forward, polished wines made with whole clusters that drink well straight out of the gate and that age gracefully. The Tour Sarrasine is raised in a combination of stainless steel tanks and concrete vats and delivers excellent value.
