Giant Steps has been a trailblazer of the modern Yarra style for almost 20 years. It was one of the first wineries to pursue lower alcohol, more acid-driven Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs while championing cooler, high-altitude sites. Their range of single-vineyard wines from various sub-regions is an excellent barometer of climate, vintage and terroir. Recent years have seen some quite dramatic changes, thanks to the purchase by California's Jackson Family in 2020 and the appointment of Melanie Chester as the head of winemaking and viticulture. The wines have not missed a beat; new investment has set the business up for future growth.
