Anne Gros began harvesting in 2009 on September 10, but picked at leisure, eventually finishing with her chardonnay on September 27: "In recent years, the chardonnay has ripened behind the pinot, though it used to be the opposite." Gros believes the 2009s will be accessible early but will have the stuffing to age for 15 years. "The wines have finesse; they're not overextracted and the tannins are noble." I tasted the 2009s out of stainless steel tanks, where they had recently been assembled.
