With the 2016 vintage, Cardinale introduces a new wine into the range. Caladan is a Cabernet Franc-based wine meant to complement the flagship Cardinale. As always, winemaker Chris Carpenter has the leeway to source fruit from all of the Jackson vineyards for these two wines. In 2016, Cardinale is a bit less overt than it often is. It will be interesting to see if that is just an interpretation of the year, or representative of a broader stylistic shift in the wines. Either way, both of these 2016s are gorgeous.
