“We had a rainy June where we recorded 100mm of rain,” Romain Taupenot tells me. “There were heatwaves in July and August, but unlike 2020, we had sufficient rain that came at the right time to avoid hydric stress. We started picking on September 2, and the yields were good, just a bit below 2018, around 40hL/ha in the Côte de Beaune and 44hL/ha for the Premier Crus in the Côte de Nuits. We didn’t have to do much sorting as there was hardly any rot. There was more in 2023. We finished racking the 2022 last week. The vintage has a red fruit profile, a blend of 2019 and 2020 in some ways, with good salinity.”
