Anaba and winemaker Katy Wilson presented an extensive lineup of 2021s. I find the Pinots and reds generally nervy in style, although less austere than they were a few years ago, which is a positive. The Pinots are typically done with destemmed fruit, while the Rhône reds see a touch more stem inclusion. The use of new oak is low. Chardonnays are done in a richer style that showcases forward fruit along with a touch more oak influence, resulting in somewhat of a stylistic disconnect within the range. I also had an opportunity to catch up on the 2019s, wines I missed during the pandemic. This is generally a light vintage of wines that are well-suited to near-term drinking. The 2021s, in particular, benefitted from a few hours of air.
