Benoit Touquette is one of Napa Valley's fastest-rising young winemakers. Touquette worked under Michel Rolland and Andy Erickson before striking out on his own. Touquette's current projects include Realm, Kata, Hartwell, Magrez and Jack Quinn, plus the wines he makes at Fait-Main and Teeter-Totter, which are his own labels. At Fait-Main, Touquette favors small-lot, barrel fermentations, although in recent years, he has toned the oak down a bit, which is just fine, as Napa Valley's best sites are magnificent don't really need a ton of makeup. Passion, a strong work ethic and an inquisitive mind/palate are usually great harbingers for success. Benoit Touquette has all three.

Benoit Touquette makes wine for a number of different projects, including Realm, Jack Quinn and Hartwell, but Fait Main is his own label. These Cabernets emerge from some of the most prestigious sites in Napa Valley. The raw materials are clearly outstanding and the vineyard sites should begin to emerge even more fully as Touquette works to dial down the oak a bit. Having tasted a number of Touquette's wines over the last year, it is pretty clear he is one of the emerging stars in Napa Valley.
