The Papin family is based several kilometers from the Savennières village in the Anjou hamlet of Pierre-Bise. They have parcels in some of the area's best sites, including Roche aux Moines in Savennières and Quarts de Chaume. This high-performing, organic producer has focused on innovation with each generation (current custodian René Papin is the third generation) while remaining humble and retaining family traditions. Papin has since introduced foudres and amphoras to the winery. While Château Pierre-Bise makes clean, precise, dry whites, it also makes some excellent, long-lived, sweet wines. There are 16 wines in total, including wines of all colors, sparkling and still.

In 2021, the reds (a Gamay and a Cabernet Franc-Cabernet Sauvignon blend) continue to play second fiddle to the winery’s whites. The reds have a linearity and an herbal character, a vintage trait.
