Never one to stay still for too long, Benoit Tarlant has a few new wines in the pipeline, including the Argilité, which is fermented in amphore and the LPQT (La Pierre Qui Tombe), a 100% Chardonnay from a vineyard rich in silex. The current releases are all terrific examples of the house style that emphasizes richness, vinosity and low dosage throughout the range.

Benoit Tarlant's wines are nearly impossible to find in the US, but I rarely miss a chance to drink them, as they are magnificent. One need to look no further than the 2003s to get a clear idea of Tarlant's sheer talent. And if readers are looking for true profoundness, the 2002 La Vigne d'Antan, which emerges from a site planted with own-rooted Chardonnay on sand, will do the trick. Simply put, these new releases from Benoit Tarlant are magnificent. Readers won't want to miss them.
