I was quite impressed with the wines I tasted from Deutz. I am not sure why, but Deutz has a much lower profile than the wines deserve. The straight vintage cuvées are terrific, while the flagship wines are that, and so much more. Personally, I am a big fan of the Deutz Rosés, but all of these wines deserve attention. The Deutz style is best described as classic. Although the wines could perhaps use a little more distinctiveness, they are impeccably made and absolutely delicious.

This is a strong set of releases from Deutz, a historic house that continues to fly under the radar. At their best, the Deutz Champagnes are both finessed but also generous and richly textured. The Blanc de Blancs Amour de Deutz is one of the more distinctive wines in the range, as it is made entirely from Chardonnay but has a level of breath and richness that distinguishes it from the more focused style that is commonly found in the Côte des Blancs. I also find the Rosés noteworthy for they way they so poignantly articulate the house style.
