Matt Reynvaan wasn’t ready to show his new vintages, which will be tasted in the Spring. Instead, I was able to go through several older vintages. The 2018s are still incredibly young, hinting at great things but slow to open up. The 2017 Syrah In The Rocks and Syrah In The Hills are just starting to blossom with air, showing real potential–but they need more time in bottle. As for the 2014 Syrah Foothills Reserve, it was setting off all of the pleasure meters. My biggest takeaway was the balanced slope of their aging curves. These wines are still relatively affordable for the experience they deliver.
