Monteraponi is a terrific address for readers who enjoy traditionally styled wines. The Braganti family crafts wines of note from their estate vineyards in Radda. Aging is done in large neutral oak. The Monteraponi wines have been intriguing for a number of years, and they keep getting better.

Monteraponi is a terrific source for readers who appreciate the more classic side of Chianti Classico. Native fermentations, long macerations and long aging are some of the signatures of these wines, which see minimal handling in the cellar and no fining or filtration. At times the Monteraponi wines can be a bit rustic, but it is a beautiful and sincere approach that most clearly defines these hand made Chianti Classicos.
