Readers should note that the authorities wagged a finger at Christophe Perrot-Minot for using what are sometimes referred to as “fantasy” names for some of his cuvées, now labelled as just “Village.” Apparently, they objected to their use on the basis that they might be interpreted as the names of lieux-dits, though the counterargument is that they did actually provide information as to which vineyards he combined. Also, note that Perrot-Minot no longer produces Griotte-Chambertin.
“We did a very big green harvest like in 2017, taking off around 30% of the bunches. We started picking on September 8 just after the rain. The vinification was no problem – we have air conditioning here. The acidity levels are relatively low, so we had to do some acidification. The alcohol levels are between 13.2% and 13.7% with 40% whole cluster or thereabouts of whole bunch across the range with a maximum of 20% new oak. Everything is in barrel with no racking and bottling will be in March and April.”
