The stellar 2013 Brut Millésime Grand Cru headlines this collection of new releases from Egly-Ouriet. While that wine is indeed magnificent, as are all the top selections, I found the Les Vignes de Vrigny and Grand Cru exceptionally fine this year. As always, the Egly approach is centered on picking ripe, long aging on the lees to build texture and then low dosage when the wines are prepared for release. Stylistically, the wines offer a striking interplay of richness and acid-driven energy.
