The 2018 lineup at Colene Clemens is solid and ageworthy, and the wines are quite different, ranging from red-fruited and elegant to darker, deeper and built for cellaring. The entry-level bottling, the Dopp Creek, is the only 2019 that was ready to taste, but it showed very well. I enjoyed the fact that its new oak component, at only 15%, allows the bright fruit to come through. Here’s another excellent producer that seems to be flying under too many people’s radars despite 62 acres of vines and a range of bottlings that’s a bit of a surprise to me. Winemaker Stephen Goff, who has been here since the winery opened in 2008, is highly talented and widely respected in the industry for the consistency of his wines.
