Mastrojanni does a wonderful job of communicating the house style through their Rosso di Montalcino, along with showcasing its southern Montalcino fruit. This wine is produced from a vineyard designated for Rosso, and it’s intended to create a fresher, leaner, yet still energetic expression of Sangiovese, which it does in spades. This year, we also see the release of a wickedly fresh 100% Ciliegiolo from vineyards planted in 2011. The wine is vinified in cement and refined for nine months in truncated cone vats. The 2018 is the first vintage.
