It’s a very interesting time at Domaine Long-Dépaquit, which is part of the Albert Bichot family of domaines. To be honest, I never really understood the wines. I often found them hard, unyielding and squashed by oak. Enter Estate Manager Cécilia Trimaille, who arrived in 2018, after gaining experience in California, New Zealand and, most recently, Château Margaux, where she was Assistant Vineyard Manager. The 2018s and 2017s, more than being wines from specific vintages, show a transition in approach that is incredibly exciting. Long-Dépaquit is now very clearly a name to watch in Chablis.
