With each passing vintage, the portfolio of Verdicchio being produced by Tenuta di Tavignano rivals the top wines from throughout the region. What’s more, while working on this most recent report, I was introduced to the Rosso Piceno Libenter, which is nicely balanced, packed full of varietal character (a blend of 70% Montepulciano, 25% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon) and easily competes with Le Marche top reds. The property has been managed since 2014 by Ondine de la Feld, niece of its owner, Stefano Aymerich di Laconi. The hilltop vineyards are located in Cingoli, at an average of 300 meters, between the two rivers Esino and Musone, within the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico DOC. The Misco parcel, which creates some of their most exciting whites, sits in an amphitheater of vines which face the Apennines while overlooking the Musone river. All of the vineyards have been farmed organically since the year that Ondine de la Feld had taken the reigns of the estate. The wines of Tenuta di Tavignano are rich and powerful, yet packed full of mineral intensity and vibrant acidity, enlivening their vivid fruit.
