The Verdicchio lineup of Sartarelli continues to deliver the goods, whether you are just beginning to explore the variety or consider yourself a seasoned pro; especially with the 2018, 2019 and 2020 vintages in front of us, which all have their own unique merits. The Sartarelli vineyards cascade along Le Marche’s hillsides at an average elevation of 250 to 350 meters above sea level, with exposures ranging from north to south, planted in soils of clay, silt and sand. While not organic or biodynamic, the family uses only natural extracts to deter vine diseases, as well as adding zero chemical compounds to the grapes in the vineyards or cellar. Tommaso Sartarelli, the family's oenologist, uses only stainless steel to mature all the Verdicchio throughout the portfolio, following the belief that wine should be made in the vineyard. There really is something for every palate here, from the classic and crisp stylings of the 2020 Verdicchio Classico, to the old-vine depths and tension of the 2019 Tralivio (possibly the best vintage of this wine to date), to the richness, opulence and elegance of the Balciana.
