Cathy Corison's 2010s are drop-dead gorgeous. Readers who appreciate classically-styled Cabernets will not want to miss these superb wines. According to Corison, the main challenge in 2010 was dealing with a heat spike that was particularly brutal, not so much because of the extreme temperature that day (between 106-115 degrees), but rather because the vines simply weren't prepared to deal with the heat given that the year had been quite cold up until then. Sunburn was an issue in some spots, especially on the morning side, and the vineyard was picked in several passes.

I sensed that the 2010 growing season played into the Corison style. "It was a long, cool season and the grapes were slow to ripen," noted Cathy Corison in March. "The fruit was lower in alcohol but phenolically ripe, and the wines have been very aromatic early in their life. But it's not a fleshy vintage." Interestingly, Corison describes her 2008s and "riper and fuller" than her 2009s. The latter vintage has a firm backbone, she went on, while the 2008s are lusher and more evolved.
