Morgan Twain-Peterson and Chris Cottrell draw on a stunning collection of sites for the Bedrock wines. Tasting through this range is always illuminating, as the wines are essentially a tour through many of California’s most iconic vineyards. The 2022s are a bit lighter in feel than the norm here, but typical of the vintage overall. Extractions were shortened a touch to match the style of the vintage. Overall, the 2022s impress with their balance and overall appeal. I imagine readers will have a great time exploring this range. Many of the highlights are not the usual suspects. Some of my favorites include the Sémillon Monte Rosso Vineyard, Roussanne Bien Nacido, Dolinsek Ranch Heritage Wine and Syrah (California). Beyond the wines, I have to say I am very pleased to see Bedrock move towards lower-weight bottles. It’s one thing to talk about sustainability, but something entirely different to act on it. The new bottles lower the weight of a single case of wine by 9 lbs. That’s an astonishing number, especially when multiplied across thousands of cases, and, ideally, many thousands of wineries that might follow suit.
