Two thousand fifteen will go down as one of the most unusual vintages at Hirsch. Harvest began on August 15, the earliest start ever. Yields came in at a punishing 0.89 tons per acre. Two thousand fifteen is also a vintage of transition, as these are the last wines made by Ross Cobb. Sadly, there is no Bohan-Dillon Pinot, and the production of the Chardonnay (which I did not taste) is minimal. It will be interesting to see what new winemaker Anthony Filiberti and proprietor Jasmine Hirsch come up with in 2016 and beyond, as the Hirsch family's Sonoma Coast estate is undoubtedly one of the great vineyard sites in the United States.
