Weingut Pitnauer

In 2006 Gerhard and Brigitte Pitnauer converted their 16 hectares of vineyard to biodynamics, allowed wild yeasts to take the fore and toning down their use of oak. Even before, they were known for their honest style, wines with no make-up. Today that approach, and their dedication to St. Laurent, is their signature. The selection below represents a large part of the volume seen on the market, but does not include any of their finest wines. I have always been an admirer of their St. Laurent Rosenberg and Altenberg, their blaufrÃ¤nkisch from Ungerberg and Rosenberg as well as the Pinot Noir Baumgarten, but was not able to taste them for this article.
