Vignoble du Rêveur

Vignoble du Reveur is a brand-new creation of Mathieu Deiss (son of Jean-Michel Deiss of domaine Marcel Deiss), or in his own words, a new chapter in the story of his maternal grandfather’s (René Mischler’s) vineyards. These were later farmed by Mathieu’s maternal uncle, Cassien Mischler, who unfortunately became ill in 2011 and was unable to tend to the vineyards, so that is when Mathieu stepped in. (Mathieu’s mother is Clarisse Mischler and he states clearly that it is for her that he launched himself into this project.) And so Mathieu is prolonging and giving life to his ancestors’ dreams, working their vineyards and making three different cuvées (as of 2013). He has also begun the process of converting the estate holdings back to organic and biodynamic farming practices, so some but not all of the wines made are therefore already certified so. No commercial yeasts are used. The 7.5 hectares of vineyards are located mostly in the countryside around Bennwihr, just outside the Kaysersberg valley. Mathieu vinifies these wines along with his significant other, Emmanuelle Milan, daughter of vigneron Henri Milan of Domaine Milan in Provence.
