Sorrentino

When it comes to Campania’s wines, Lacryma Christi has always been an afterthought for most wine lovers - and not surprising, given the average or poor quality of many of the wines in decades past. However, all that is beginning to change, and it’s thanks to people like Paolo Sorrentino and his two children Giuseppe and Benni (she’s the winemaker) that the winds of change are blowing through the vineyards of Vesuvius as well. Low-yielding organically grown vines, an extended growing season thanks to the high altitude, and clay-and-calcaire and volcanic soils are just a few of the elements that contribute to intense, very saline, concentrated wines.
