Robert Roth

Located in Soultz, in the extreme south of the Alsace wine country in the direction of Mulhouse at the Swiss border, the Robert Roth estate (run by brothers Christopher and Patrick Roth, sons of Robert, who passed away prematurely in 1986) is the only independent winemaker of Soultz. Also, Victor Roth, son of Patrick (and Estelle) has come back to the estate after a number of stages elsewhere and took over the estate’s winemaking duties from his father in 2017; among the first changes he has implemented is the use of indigenous yeasts. The Robert Roth vineyard holdings are roughly 14 hectares, large divided up into 30 different plots of vines; among the most important sites in which the family owns vineyards, the Mittelbourg and Orschwillerbourg are potentially premier cru vineyards. The estate began converting over to organic farming in 2016 and the first Robert Roth wines to be Ecocert organic certified will be those of the 2019 vintage.
