Le Pin
I hope to one day have an opportunity to taste Vieux Château Certan and Le Pin when they are both mature wines. Today, in the early going, both are positively stunning. At Le Pin, yields were just 28 hectoliters per hectare. The wine spent three weeks on the skins and then underwent malolactic fermentation in barrel. New oak is 70 percent. This is a tremendous showing from proprietor Jacques Thienpont and his cousin Alexande, who makes the wine with his son Guillaume.
