Hamilton Russell Oregon

Hamilton Russell Oregon, a noted South African producer whose Pinot Noirs (and Chardonnays) have long been benchmarks for the southern hemisphere, has gotten off to a fast start in Oregon. Their first releases, from 2018, were excellent, while the 2019s take things up a notch. This project is a partnership with Jackson Family Wines, from whose vineyards the fruit is sourced. Winemaking is overseen by Emul Ross, who is also the winemaker at the home winery, in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley. Production is tiny right now, to say the least, with anywhere from 150 to 200 cases of each bottling made per vintage.
