Domaine Patrick Jasmin

Patrick Jasmin describes 2005 as "a truly great year, like 1999 but with no surmaturite," and he likes the fact that his classically styled, elegant 2004 will drink well young. "It's nice to have something to drink while waiting for the 2003 and 2005 to mature," he told me. Still, he thinks that the 2004 needs six or seven years to begin to show its personality. Yields in both vintages were in the 40 hl/ha range, which is normal here. Both wines contain about 5% viognier and were raised with about 30% new oak, mostly barriques.
