Domaine Jean-Luc et Jean-Paul Jamet
The Jamets' wide range of vineyard holdings are scattered across the appellation, offering myriad blending opportunities and the potential to make one of the more complex wines of the appellation. Jean-Paul Jamet is clearly excited about the potential of the estate's 2005 and thinks, along with most of his colleagues, that it is a vintage that must be held for at least ten years to begin to show its true quality. After the challenges of the superripe 2003 vintage, 2004, 2005 and 2006 brought a welcome return to normalcy for the Jamets, giving them material that Jean-Paul described as "vibrant and fresh, with excellent maturity. "Yields here in 2004 and 2005 were in the 36 to 36 hectoliters-per-hectare range, which Jamet described as "normal for us. "I also had the chance to retaste the 2003, which showed rich, ripe, powerful dark fruit character, with a sappy, liqueur-like quality and thick, velvety texture.
