Cuppari

Cuppari is the name of an estate (its full name is actually Istituto Tecnico Agrario Cuppari di San Placido Calonerò, essentially an agricultural university) owned by the Istituto Agrario Minutoli di Messina, which is the largest vineyard owner within the Faro DOC. The institute had been active in winemaking in the early 1900s, but only planted a Faro vineyard in 1978, then increased its size to the current 4+ hectares and bought all the necessary wine equipment for commercial wine production in 2005. The 2010 vintage saw their first commercial release of Faro wine; winemaker Nicola Centonze of the Centonze estate consults here.
