Chapelle St. Théodoric

In recent years these graceful, highly perfumed, delicate wines have become consistent standouts in my annual Châteauneuf-du-Pape tastings. Produced by Domaine de Cristia’s Baptiste Grangeon, in conjunction with American importer Peter Weygandt, the wines are made from fruit grown in sandy soils and with whole clusters, which imbues them with highly perfumed, spice- and floral-driven bouquets and a noteworthy light touch. That said, they certainly don’t lack for depth of flavor and intensity. These are among the most interesting wines being made in the appellation right now.
