Rain during harvest presented extreme challenges at Rampolla. Production of the flagship d'Alceo was down massively, as siblings Maurizia and Luca Di Napoli used only the very best-exposed upper terraces for the approximately 1,000 bottles that were ultimately produced. Tasted a few years after release, both the d'Alceo and Sammarco show - if there was any doubt - why Rampolla is one of the most privileged sites on the planet for growing wine grapes.
