Boars' View

This is the first wine I have tasted from Fred and Carol Schrader's new Pinot Noir project near Cazadero in one of the best spots on the Sonoma Coast. The vineyard is farmed by Ulises Valdez while Thomas Rivers Brown takes care of the winemaking. Although it is hard to judge from just one vintage, the Boars' View Pinot is quite a bit more overt, flashy and forward in style than the Pinots Brown makes under his own Rivers-Marie label. The 2012 points to a very bright future.
