Big Table Farm

Now that Clare Carver and Brian Marcy have opened a tasting room in downtown Carlton, more people are going to have a chance to try their wines compared to when doing so required a drive to their relatively isolated home and winery outside of Gaston. (That trip is well worth it, by the way, but it’s definitely a time commitment.) The consistent quality here is admirable and has been for years. In the hot 2017 and 2018 vintages, Marcy managed to keep his wines vibrant, while in 2019, he made perhaps his best Pinots yet. That being said, don’t expect fireworks, as the house style here favors restraint, though not austerity. If you’re going to drink a Big Table Farm Pinot on the young side, by all means decant it for a couple of hours beforehand.
