1978 Cheval Blanc

The 1978 Cheval Blanc is simply magnificent. Exotic in its
spice and tobacco-infused bouquet, the 1978 is captivating from the very first
taste. The cold, late harvest produced a lighter style of Cheval with distinct
Pinot and Nebbiolo-like leanings. In that sense, the 1978 is not at all a
typical Cheval, and yet it is arrestingly beautiful just the same. Still bright and refreshing, with tons of
Cabernet Franc character coming through, the 1978 is a real joy to taste and
drink today. Well-stored bottles will drink well for another decade plus. What
