It’s far too early for me to have a complete view of the 2021 vintage in Sonoma County, but the wines I have tasted so far suggest this is a very good and possibly outstanding vintage. The best 2021s are deep, beautifully layered and highly expressive of site. Watch this space for updates in the coming weeks.
The West Sonoma Coast Becomes an AVA
After a very long wait, the West Sonoma Coast was finally recognized as California’s latest AVA late last year. Readers will soon see the first West Sonoma Coast AVA-appellated wines. Our new map, available digitally for the time being, is the first in a series of maps that takes a deep look at the AVA, its nested regions and estates in never-before-seen detail.
