Technical Director Philippe Dhalluin, who oversees all the properties in the Mouton-Rothschild group, describes 2014 as a year with considerable tannin and concentration, especially in Cabernet Sauvignon, which gained quite a bit of depth during a very hot, dry September. Fermentations were done at slightly lower temperatures than normal and at a relaxed pace that meant some lots spent more time on the skins than is typical. These 2014s suggest Dhalluin is ratcheting up quality in a meaningful way.
