Q: Will Stephen Tanzer continue to be involved with the business post-acquisition and in what capacity?

A: Steve will be joining Vinous as Partner and Editor-in-Chief. Steve's editorial responsibilities are outlined below.


Q: Are IWC's editors joining Vinous?

A: The entire IWC editorial team will be joining Vinous. Please see below for more details.


Q. What will the ongoing editorial coverage model be?

Antonio Galloni: Bordeaux, Napa Valley, Italy, Champagne, Sonoma, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz Mountains and Burgundy

Steve Tanzer: Burgundy, Chablis, Washington, Argentina, South Africa, New Zealand, Port, Tokaj and Napa Valley

Josh Raynolds: Spain, Rhône Valley, Languedoc, Roussillon, Provence, Oregon, Australia, Paso Robles, Santa Lucia Highlands and Chile

Ian D’Agata: Central and Southern Italy, Alsace, Canada

Joel Payne: Germany, Austria, Loire


Q: Will IWC subscribers be migrated to Vinous?

A: Vinous will honor all existing IWC subscriptions, after which IWC subscribers will have the option to renew with Vinous. IWC subscribers will receive an email in late November/early December with details of their new Vinous subscriptions. 

Readers who subscribe to both IWC and Vinous will have their Vinous subscription extended by the amount of time remaining on their IWC subscription.


Q. I have not received an email from Vinous yet with instructions on setting up my account

A.    If you are a IWC subscriber, Vinous will have set you up with an account. 

You will have received an email reminder with your new password from Stephen Tanzer on February 13, 2015.

If you cannot find this email, click here: https://www.vinousmedia.com/users/password/new and enter your IWC email address. If your email is in the Vinous system a link will be sent to you with instructions on how to log in. The first time you sign in you'll be asked to confirm some basic information and set a new password. You'll also have the option (but not the requirement) to add a credit card for continued access once your subscription is up for renewal.

If you are still having issues, please email us at info@vinousmedia.com and we will be glad to help set you up or answer any questions you may have about the transition. So far, most log in issues are browser-related. We suggest using Chrome or Safari.


Q. What subscription plans does Vinous offer?

A. Vinous offers three subscription plans:

1) Vinous Classic – 12 months of full access to the site for $120/year

2) Vinous Premium – 12 months of full access to the site for $210/year plus priority access to Vinous events

3) Vinous Group – 12 months of full access to the site for trade users or other groups that require multiple simultaneous log-ins. Pricing varies by group size.


Q: When the IWC database be available on Vinous?

A: The entire IWC database of more than 145,000 reviews and 500 articles will be available on Vinous in early December.


Q: Where will the upcoming issue of IWC be published?

A: All articles that were scheduled to appear in IWC Issue 177 will be published on Vinous over the next few weeks.


Q. What will happen to articles that are in progress as of the time of the acquisition?

A. All articles that have been started but not finished by critics who will not be covering regions on an ongoing basis will be published and added to the database in the coming weeks and months as part of the transition process. These articles include Côte de Beaune whites (Galloni), Central and Southern Italy (Galloni), Santa Barbara (Raynolds), Champagne (Raynolds), Rosso di Montalcino (D’Agata) and Tuscany (D’Agata).


Q: Does this acquisition affect Vinous's partnership with CellarTracker?

A: No. All Vinous and IWC reviews will continue to be available on CellarTracker.


Q. How should I attribute past and future tasting notes from the IWC team?

A. The IWC's entire library will soon be available on Vinous. In order to enable customers to find out where to find out more Vinous should be mentioned in all cases. We also encourage attributing reviews to the respective authors because people build an understanding of a particular reviewer's palate. Hyperlinks back to Vinous are appreciated.
