Dear Friends -
This morning I am thrilled to announce that Vinous has acquired wine zine Loam Baby. Founded by author R.H. Drexel in 2012, Loam Baby has quickly built a cult following for an intimate and irreverent take on the wine world that has garnered attention from numerous publications, including Los Angeles Times, Food & Wine, Wine & Spirits, Wine Spectator, Punch Drink and Imbibe. This acquisition further builds on our commitment to nurturing emerging talents and offering readers the very best in wine writing.
Effective October 1 R.H. will join the Vinous team as Wine Culture Correspondent. In her new role, R.H. will contribute a series of columns, including “Ka-Ching”, which highlights brick and mortar wine retailers around the United States; “Lovebirds Dip Their Beaks”, a series of articles focused on everyday consumers enjoying wine while dining out; “Milestones”, where the spotlight is on wine lovers as they celebrate some of the most important moments in their lives; and “Message in a Bottle: The Collector’s Corner”, a Q&A-oriented column on some of the country’s most intriguing collectors and their cellars.
Vinous will continue to publish Loam Baby in its print format starting with the forthcoming Sonoma issue, which will be available later this fall. Back issues will also be available shortly through vinous.com/loambaby. In the meantime, we will be publishing some of R.H.’s previous articles, along with an interview by our own Stephen Tanzer. I am very excited to have R.H. on board and am confident you will enjoy her contributions. Make sure to keep up with R.H. by following her on Instagram @rhdrexel.
